Optometrist – BSc(Optom) GradCertOcTher
I’m loving working with the Dresden team in Fitzroy, right where I live. I’ve been an optometrist for over 25 years, and have done postgraduate studies in ocular therapeutics and further training in children’s visual function. My special interests are the early detection of eye diseases like glaucoma and macular degeneration – it can make such a difference for people. I’ve served on the Optometry Board of Australia and was pretty chuffed to receive an Order of Australia medal in 2014 for my contributions to the optometry profession.

I’ve practised optometry in Sydney for 20 years. I’m from South Africa and earned a Bachelor of Optometry there completing postgraduate degrees in Houston, USA. I then taught clinical optometry and was involved in research in Houston, Auckland and Sydney. I’ve also worked with Vision Australia and Guide Dogs NSW/ACT as a consultant low vision optometrist. When I came across Dresden, in 2016, I was intrigued by its vision of ethical, affordable and fun eyewear. I love being part of this culture.

Optometrist – BOptom(Hons) MCom
I’ve recently been involved with Dresden’s outreach work to bring better vision to First Nations people in northern Sydney, through our mobile workshop (or ‘Anhänger’, as the Germans call a ‘trailer’). It’s been a unique experience, coming after 15 years’ practising in the optometry industry across Australia and Singapore. I’ve consulted for a wide range of corporate, independent and specialty practices, with a focus on contact lenses, paediatrics, behavioural optometry and eye health.

Optometrist – DipAppSc(Optom) PhD FAAO GradCertOcTher
I practised as an optometrist in Australia and Kenya, then completed a PhD and worked as an academic in South Africa and New Zealand universities before returning home to Australia. I then held a range of positions including senior lecturer at UNSW, optometrist at Vision Australia, director of the Macular Degeneration Foundation, and councillor of Optometry Australia. It’s great being hands-on again with Dresden, and so close to the actual, everyday act of improving vision.

Optometrist – BOptom(Hons) TPA qualified
I’ve been full-time at the Smith St store since we first opened our doors to Fitzroy customers and wider Melbourne. I’m a therapeutically endorsed optometrist and have previously worked in private and corporate practices in New Zealand and Australia. I enjoy the clinical side of things. Areas that especially interest me include contact lenses and dry eye disease. I’ve collaborated on some interesting research into warm compress treatment for meibomian gland dysfunction, which has been published in two international optometry and vision science journals.

Optometrist – BOptom(Hons) GradCertOcTher
I’m a therapeutically registered optometrist and have worked in a variety of practices across Australia for 12 years. I believe everyone should have access to quality eye care, and I’ve been part of volunteer missions in El Salvador, Mexico and Bolivia. I have a special interest in contact lenses and treatment of anterior eye conditions. Working for an innovative, altruistic company like Dresden has let me focus on my favourite part of being an optometrist – providing the best solution for patients’ eye health.

Optometrist – BOptom(Hons)
I’m a Rozelle local, and a strong advocate of providing personalised, holistic eye care.
I graduated from the University of New South Wales with Honours in 2001, and have since worked in various independent and corporate practices across Australia. My postgraduate studies focused on children’s vision and their visual function. I’ve got a keen interest in contact lenses, general eye health and, particularly, the early detection of eye disease.

Optometrist – BSc(Hons) MCOptom GradCertOcTher
I graduated with honours from the University of Wales in 1986, and have been a member of the College of Optometrists since 1988. I’m therapeutically registered in the treatment of anterior eye conditions and glaucoma, and my optometry career has taken me to Europe, Africa and now Australia. I’ve worked at the Aboriginal Eye Health Clinic in Redfern, and am currently clinic supervisor at UNSW, teaching and practising in the rehabilitation of visually impaired people. Community involvement is important to me and so is sustainability – so Dresden is a great fit. As a home brewer myself, I love wearing frames that are made from recycled beer keg caps!

Optometrist – BScOptom
It’s been 25 years since I began practising optometry in Melbourne, and I’ve worked in both corporate and private practices over that time. I’ve owned and operated an optometry store too, so it’s been really interesting joining Dresden, which does things so differently to everyone else – especially the making we do in store. My particular interests include detection of eye disease, diabetes and paediatrics, and I’m currently doing postgraduate study in ocular therapeutics.

Optometrist – BOptom(Hons) BSc
I’m a therapeutically registered optometrist and move between our two stores in the heart of Sydney city. That’s quite a change after practicing in Nepal and throughout Australia, providing eye care in rural, remote, and suburban areas – including outreach clinics and Aboriginal communities. I keep very active and involved in the field, and am currently Vice President for Optometry NSW/ACT and a committee member of Eyes4Everest, which provides eye care to the Sherpa community of the Himalayas.
